Tracey is a member of the Montana First Nation. After graduating from the Red Deer Social Work Diploma program, she pursued the BSW, then MSW, at the University of Calgary and the M.Ed at the University of Saskatchewan. As a graduate/alumni of the Red Deer College (RDC) Social
Work diploma program, she came full circle, re-joining the Social Work program in 2015 as a sessional instructor. Tracey also worked on curriculum development for their social work program. She has taught
social work and other courses at Maskwacis Cultural College, NorQuest College, Red
DeerCollege/Polytech, UCalgary, First Nations University of Canada, University Regina, Athabasca
University, and Wilfred Laurier University. Prior to joining MESC she was the Dean of Business at Maskwacis Cultural College.

I am a proud member of Samson Cree Nation and am deeply honoured to be working in my home community. I hold a degree in Psychiatric Nursing from MacEwan University and bring over 10 years of experience in the health and mental health field. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in a variety of settings, including corrections, addictions and detox services, acute psychiatry, and community mental health. My passion lies in supporting wellness and healing within Indigenous communities through culturally grounded, compassionate care. I strive to strengthen my cultural roots by staying connected and continuously learning about our culture and traditional ways of being.

Lisa is a member of the Kahsho Gotine Nation originally from Fort Good Hope but now resides in Leduc. Combining her indigenous roots with her present-day experience, Lisa strives to bridge cultural gaps, foster inclusivity and create a positive impact within her workplace and community.

Shyla is a Samson Cree Nation member. Her career path has taken her through a variety of meaningful roles including early learning, social work, and contributing to cultural stewardship and Indigenous Engagement. Each role strengthened her appreciation for community, culture, and the importance of creating spaces where people feel supported and understood.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, English, and Human Resources. With a multi-disciplinary background, she has always been drawn to understanding people, cultures, and the stories that shape our shared experiences. This naturally guided her into the field of Human Resources where she combines her humanities background with a sincere passion for helping others.
WELLNESS TEAM ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
First point of contact for all benefits, pension, and wellness benefit inquiries and individual change requests
Onboarding & enrolling employees for benefits and pension
Maintaining, updating, and terminating Benefits and Pension Forms & Records
Individual employee orientation and support for Benefits and Pension related issues
Collaborating with payroll to ensure that employer and employee deductions for benefits are processed accurately and in a timely manner
Support with Pension termination management
First point of contact for short term disability insurance inquiries
Management of STD/LTD Claims, disability related leaves and return to work plan
Collaborate with Atrieve Technician regarding Atrieve assignment changes for Leaves/Disability claims
Communication with insurance companies and health care professionals to ensure accurate, timely, and complete information to support sick leave claims and planning for return to work and/or accommodation
Follows up on parental, maternity and long term illness leave
Provide Health and Wellness Support for employees i.e. EFAP or referrals to outside supports and programs
Manage Wellness Spending Benefit Tracking of funds for staff
Responsible for monthly health and wellness email
Assist with development and implementation of the Wellness Plan
Participate as a member of the Wellness Committee
Supporting the Director of Health and Wellness in collecting and analyzing data to evaluate the effectiveness of the health and wellness Program
Wellness Program
Oversee the development, implementation and review of the wellness program
Ensure opportunities, as determined in the wellness Program, for employees to learn skills and strategies related to health and wellness.
Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of the health and wellness Program
Oversee and direct the Wellness committee
Oversee the Wellness Spending Benefit for staff
Communicate regularly with supervisors and staff regarding health and wellness related matters
Benefits and Pension
Oversee management of the Pension and Benefits Plans
Oversee the promotion of benefits and pension plans.
Oversee the collection and analysis of data to evaluate the efficiency and value of current benefits program.
Employee Case Management
Oversee management of STD/LTD Claims, disability related leaves and return to work plans
Oversee disability and absenteeism management in collaboration with school and district leaders
Oversee communication with insurance companies and health care professionals to ensure accurate, timely, and complete information to support sick leave claims and planning for return to work and/or accommodation.
Oversee Health and Wellness Support for employees (i.e. EFAP or referrals to outside supports and programs)
Receive maternity/parental leave letters and issue Acknowledgement of Leave letters (Maternity/Parental Leave)
Oversee and follow up on maternity, parental, and long term illness leave
Develop accommodation work plans in consultation with employees and their supervisor
